Chiropractic is all about communication between the brain and nervous system, such communication going to every tissue and organ in the body. When this communication is not interfered with by the subluxation, health reigns supreme.
Communication is also important between patient and Chiropractor. The patient wants to communicate what they consider to be their problem(some type of symptom). The Chiropractor's job is to communicate to the patient, while fully acknowledging their communication about their symptom, what the problem is which is causing the patients symptom. An understanding of this will put the patient at cause over his problem, as opposed to being the effect of his symptom.
Early in my career I stayed away from any communication with a patient about his symptom. My rationale was that I did not want the patient thinking that his symptom was the primary target, knowing full well that if I did that, the patient would incorrectly assume that if a symptom was not showing up in his body, that he was healthy. So I always communicate to the patient that the problem(subluxation) is in existence years before a symptom shows up. By that time the nerve interference has established disease in the organ that is supplied by that nerve. In other words, waiting around for the symptom is equivalent to waiting around for death.
On a larger scale, communication is survival. Without it, somebody or something is doomed.. Pick up the newspaper and you will see some results of failed communication: War, divorce, bigotry, suicide, heartbreak and finally death.
So I suggest that we all get to the Chiropractor and get our subluxations corrected so that our communication lines are free of interference, and then we will be more able to communicate to our fellow man to help exterminate our social subluxations.
A body with no communication interference is a healthy body, a society with no communication interference is a healthy society.
I am doing my part by communicating to you about this situation, you could add to that momentum by getting your body's communication lines freed up, and you might want to consider communicating to your fellow man in such a way so as to make his or her life better.
Then check to see how this makes you feel. I think that you will find that you now feel pretty darn good about yourself and the world just might look a little brighter, thanks in no small part to you.

A pinched nerve, called by Chiropractors' a "Subluxation". Okay, so how did that happen. Well its a little more than your tackle football game at your 40th birthday party. This is what and when this usually happens, almost 99% of the time.
Somewhere around your first or second birthday, you fell down and a bone slipped out of place. This put pressure on the spinal nerve just below the bone. This pressure was enough to cause the organ at the end to not function properly. So you suffered through the usual childhood disorders such as cold, flu, stomach aches, ear aches, etc. As you enter your twenties and thirties, the subluxation, uncorrected, now has cause disease to take over the affected part of the body served by this pinched nerve. As the condition continues to deteriorate, your body will now let you know that you have a problem. So you play football and wonder why your low back is so bad the next day that you can't put your shoes on. Never having had back pain, you go to the doctor and are giving some muscle relaxers, or some other form of band aid treatment. Now unable to play golf anymore, you seek out a Chiropractor. The Chiropractor examines your back and informs you that you have a subluxation and will need to be x-rayed to determine the damage. Unaware of the above mentioned journey that the subluxation goes through, you argue that you don't need x-rays as this just happened and you do not need x-rays.
But the Chiropractor is convincing and you can't stand the pain anymore. The x-rays show a subluxation that has reached phase three of subluxation degeneration, the disc is 50% gone, and that is not correctable, but relief is definitely available with continued Chiropractic. So you agree to a treatment program, and to your disbelief, your back pain is immediately 90% better and overnight completely disappears. You are so excited that you get on the internet and write a great review for the Chiropractor. Of course, since the back pain is gone, you do not see any need to continue with Chiropractic care, so you jus disappear. Two years later the Chiropractor runs into you at the golf course and asks why you have not been in for treatment. So you explain to him that you had prostate cancer and had to have surgery and that why you did not continue with your Chiropractic care and the handling of the subluxation.
Over the past 35 years, I have lost track of the number of these cases that I have runs into is unbelievable. From this I have come up with two stable references: (1) It is impossible to convince someone of something negative that could happen in the future, and (2) The definition of the subluxation as the "silent killer" is very, very, true.

Back pain relief is attained by finding out what caused the pain, and reversing. This is so simple that you won't believe it. Cause: a bone slips backward. twists to the right, and also wedges on the right. Determine which bone has slipped, then make a Chiropractic adjustment that moves the bone forward, from right to left and also reduce the lateral wedging. This puts the bone in a more correct position and usually results in immediate relief. If there is no relief, either one of the correction factors has been missed, or the problem is so bad that several adjustments are necessary. This is just for relief, it does not correct the problem, which is something that I will address in my next post. Dr. J

My names is Dr. James Goforth. I have been a Chiropractor since 1079. Prior to that I was a nuclear Machinist. The precision work required of a machinist led me to discover within the Chiropractic profession a similar approach to back problems. That is the Gonstead technique, considered by many to be the Gold Standard in Chiropractic.
Prior to opening my first practice in Pleasant HIll, CA, I worked in one of the busiest Chiropractic offices in the country, by myself seeing up to 400 patients per week. But the standard results that I had hoped to achieve were not always there. So I moved to San Jose, CA, to work with two of the top Gonstead doctors in the country. It was this experience that laid the foundation for the later results that I have achieved as a Chiropractor. Most people are not aware of the fact that the Chiropractic profession is composed of two entirely different factions, straights and mixers. A mixer is a Chiropractor who uses many different approaches to handle his patient. These include physio therapy, nutrition, emotional response, massage, laser therapy, etc. The straight Chiropractor focuses his approach on the discovery and correction of the vertebral subluxation. This is defined as : 1. a minor misalignment of the segment of the spine(vertebrae), causing an irritation to a nerve, with a loss of normal function. Without the correction of the vertebral subluxation, optimum health is not possible. Having practiced for 33 years, I have never found anything within the Chiropractic profession that produced better results with the vertebral subluxation than the Gonstead technique. For further information, just us user words Gonstead on your computer.

My name is Dr. James Goforth. I have been a Chiropractor since 1979, originally practicing in Pleasant Hill, CA, and then moving to my current location in east Hollywood in 2003. Chiropractic is divided into two different approaches, mixers and straight Chiropractors. Mixers do a little of everything, including but not limited to nutrition, hair analysis, massage, physical therapy, emotional response treatment, laser treatment, etc. Straight Chiropractors confine their approach to the correction of the vertebral subluxation complex(VSC). What is that? That is what Chriopractic philosophy was founded on. Simply but not adequately put, it is a pinched nerve. Properly defined, it is (1). a minor misalignment of the segment of the spine(vertebral), causing an irritation to a nerve, with a loss of normal nerve function. (2) An interruption of communication from the brain to any cell, tissue, or organ of the body.
Simply put, a bone slips out of place in the spine, puts pressure on a nerve, and whatever is at the end of the nerve will not function properly. This could be your leg, heart, thyroid gland, lungs, etc. It is the Chiropractor who can locate these misaligned bones and put them back in position. Having done this for 33 years, I can honestly say that the best way to do that is by using the Gonstead methodology, of which I am very proficient. For information on the Gonstead technique, considered by many to be the Gold Standard of Chiropractic techniques, just use key word Gonstead.
